How to Measure for a Replacement Ring Mat Cover

Start with the ring you already own

A replacement ring mat cover is the fabric covering over the ring platform and its padding. It is not a complete ring, a replacement padding system or gym floor mats. A ring advertised as an 18-foot ring may describe a different measurement from the area your cover needs to fit.

Use a tape measure and record dimensions in feet and inches, or in centimeters. Tell us which units you used. If the ring has unusual corners or the two sides differ, record each side rather than assuming the platform is square.

Measurements and photos to send

• Platform length and width: measure the surface the cover must span. Label the directions on a sketch.
• Edge detail: record any required drop over the edge and photograph how the existing cover finishes.
• Fastening: identify grommets and rope ties or velcro. Include attachment positions, edge-to-fastener distances and spacing where relevant.
• Corner and post detail: photograph cutouts, obstructions and any unusual shape. Do not assume another gym’s pattern will fit.
• Existing cover: label its measurements separately. A worn or stretched cover should be supporting information, not the only sizing reference.
• Photos: include one wide view and close-ups of the edges, underside attachment and corners. Do not dismantle a ring just to obtain a photo; ask your ring technician if access is unsafe.

Do not add a fit allowance yourself

Send the measurements as taken, then ask us to confirm the finished cover dimensions and fastening arrangement. Material, attachment and ring construction can affect fit, so adding a guessed allowance can produce a cover that is too loose or too small.

Before approving production, check the fit diagram against your ring. Confirm the measurement units, orientation, corner details, fastening method and logo position in writing. Keep the approved specification for future reorders.

Plan your logo around the usable surface

Mark the center of the visible ring surface on your sketch. Identify the side facing the main camera or audience if orientation matters. Supply your logo file and specify which way it should read.
